Dos’ And Don’ts Listed By Physiotherapists
Physiotherapy is no piece of cake, it requires
a great deal of knowledge and also a little bit of patience. Speaking of
patience, even the patients need to keep their cool because this palliative
process takes time. And there are some rules that if you follow, will be helpful
for you a lot.
Everyone knows the common dos’ and don’ts of
physical therapy, but Physiorevive
will let you in on some peculiar dos’ and don’ts.
Dos’
● Stretching
Exercising is one of the main parts of any physiotherapy treatment, but doing it
the right way is very important and much needed. Working out may cause your
muscles to tighten and shorten, which can reduce the effectiveness. This can
take longer to heal than usual or can lead to injury of other body parts. Such
as, tight hamstrings can cause back pain. This can be avoided if you do proper
stretching pre and post-workout or exercising.
● Spend Sufficient Money On
equipment and Shoes
Get good quality equipment and gears and shoes that you need to work out. Focus
on the word “quality”, because that is an important factor in your healing.
Physiotherapy can only work at a point, there are other factors that play a
major role to palliate the pain. Bad quality products can increase the level of
your pain rather than reducing it.
You only have one body and it is irreplaceable, so do not try to ruin it. So,
rather than spending more on branded gym wear, spend more on branded sports
equipment and shoes.
Don’ts
● Don’t tolerate Pain For long
time / Several Weeks
When you feel pain in any of your body parts for more than 2-3 days, it
requires medical attention. In fact, if the pain was caused to you by an
injury, you shouldn’t even wait for 2-3 days. You should see a medical
professional as soon as possible without any delay. The basic fundamental rule
is, the longer you are in pain, the harder it is to get through with it, the
longer will be the therapy and healing process.
● Don’t Google It
We live in a digital world where people believe Google has the answer to every
question. Well, the search engines may have answers to a myriad of questions
but you should avoid using them for medical queries. Medical conditions,
particularly pain and disabilities need to be dealt with carefully under professional
expertise.
Search engines may provide you with some answers but they cannot look into your
body or x-ray it. So, always seek professional help for medical conditions, and
trust your doctors more than the internet, because they will refer you to the best physiotherapy center in Delhi.
●
Don’t put on Weight
Usually, people stop working out and their movements when they are in pain,
thinking that they will resume once the pain is gone. And once they start with
physical therapy, they tend to think that the exercises and movements in
therapy are enough.
Do not do this, talk to your therapist and keep working out. Eat properly
balanced food and avoid junk food that can cause you to gain weight.
Another imperative thing, neither gain weight nor lose it drastically. Because
losing weight will affect your health even more.
